1. As a patent agent, do you keep information I disclose to you
confidential?
Yes! My right to practice as a patent agent would be at risk if I did not
abide by the rules as stated in Title 37 - Code of Federal Regulations
Patents, Trademarks, and Copyrights.  I can also supply you with a
non-disclosure agreement or you can provide one for me to sign.

2. Can you tell me, briefly, how the process works in preparing
and submitting a patent application?
Sure. Here is a brief synopsis.

3. What is a Provisional Patent Application? Should I file a
Provisional Application before filing a regular application?
A Provisional Application is not necessary, but it may be desirable for
some inventors. See this explanation.

4. How much patent work do you do?
I have been doing patent work for a long time, primarily for my employer
as a part of my engineering job. I do individual patent work via Huntsville
Patents, but I limit the number of jobs I take.

5. How much does it cost to get a patent?
The cost cannot be precisely predicted because it depends on a number
of factors. There are fees to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and
fees to your patent agent. In addition, there might possibly be fees to a
draftsman or a patent search firm. All together, it can easily amount to
as much as $10,000. See this summary for details.
